First sign-in

Set the admin password, name your organization, and get a first screen playing.

#Sign in for the first time

1. Open the admin address from the installer, for example http://vistapane-server:8080/admin/. The Vistapane admin shortcut on the server's desktop opens it too.
2. Choose an admin password.
3. Enter your organization's name. It's shown on alerts, idle screens and the dashboard.

The admin works in any modern browser on any computer, tablet or phone on your network. Bookmark it.

#Activate your license

Go to Settings → License, paste your key (VP-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) and click Activate. Every screen on the server is licensed straight away. Without a license, screens still play, with a small Unlicensed · Vistapane mark in the corner. See Licensing.

#Get a first screen playing

1. Add content. Go to Media and drag in a few images or a video.
2. Make a playlist. Go to Playlists, create one, and add your media. Drag items to reorder them and set how long each one shows.
3. Connect a display. On the PC behind the TV, install Vistapane Player (Display PCs). The TV shows a 6-character pairing code.
4. Pair it. In the admin, go to Screens → Add screen and type the code.
5. Choose what it plays. Set the screen's Default content to your playlist.

The screen switches to it straight away. From here, look at Content, playlists and schedules to add layouts, widgets and schedules.

#Check the general settings

Settings → General holds the organization name and the default slide duration. It also has the default content, which plays on any screen that has no schedule, screen default or group default. Setting it now means a newly paired screen never shows a blank page.
